Impact of New Technology on Mexican Tourism
This
study analyzes the importance of TICs in the world tourist sector with the
business focus of the new century, and their importance as tools that may be
used to strategically manage tourism companies. The study evaluates the effect
of new technology on Mexican tourism and proposes strategies to encourage its
application by knowing how it may be used to develop new tourist products and
services, and how it is marketed and distributed.
The
study includes areas such as: "Effects of Information on New Companies,"
"The Use of Information Technology in the Tourist Industry,"
"Diagnosis of the Technology Situation in the Mexican Tourist
Sector," and "Areas of Opportunity for the Tourist Sector." The
main finding is how unaware companies are of the technology available,
resulting in the latest technology being underused; this is due to low demand,
reduced pressure exercised by competitors, and a lack of interest on the part
of businessmen.
The
documentary study that we carried out establishes Mexico’s competitive
position in the world electronics market and includes information on its
e-commerce and access that the population has to the Internet (digital gap).
It
also includes two national case studies that show the successful application of
TIC.
The
study is aimed at the general public, but pays particular attention to the
needs and interests of directors and executives of the large number of
companies, government departments and educational institutions involved in
tourism.
